About
The Taborra are a free-spirited and deeply harmonious people, native to the fertile plains and winding river valleys of Atlantia, a region known for its lush wetlands, crystal lakes, and abundant natural life. They are known for their peaceful nature, their devotion to community, and their unique way of living in balance with the land rather than in dominion over it.
The Taborra live in large, sprawling mudhut cities that seem to rise organically. Each settlement is a labyrinth of domed dwellings, smooth earthen walkways, and tiered communal terraces adorned with vines, flowering plants, and hand-carved ornaments. Their buildings, though humble in construction, are both durable and beautiful, made from packed clay, reeds, and timber gathered from nearby riverbanks.
At the heart of each city lies a great communal hall, often built around a natural spring or sacred tree, where the Taborra gather to share meals, hold councils, celebrate the seasons, and tell stories of the ancestors. Every Taborra city is self-sufficient, sustained by shared farming, fishing, and craftwork, and governed through a form of collective leadership. Small circles of elders and spiritual guides who represent the voices of their people rather than rule over them.
The Taborra are physically graceful, with smooth, sun-bronzed skin and hair often adorned with feathers, beads, or woven flowers. Their clothing is simple but elegant, dyed in earthy tones and patterned with flowing lines that represent the rivers and winds of Atlantia.
The Taborra are highly respected throughout Anarkand for their wisdom and diplomacy. Many conflicts have been softened or resolved by their calm demeanour and deep understanding of balance often bringing peace where armies have failed. In times of hardship, their lands have become sanctuaries for refugees and travellers alike, for the Taborra do not close their doors to those in need.
Despite their gentle ways, they are not naive. The Taborra understand the dangers that surround them, from raiders, beasts, and the ambitions of other nations, but they believe strength is found not in conquest, but in endurance, unity, and understanding. Their survival through centuries of strife stands as quiet proof that peace, when lived fully, can be as powerful as any sword.
