About

The Sentujin are tall, dignified beings known for their remarkable physical strength, serene temperament, and strange, almost ethereal biology. Though they can be found across the world, their true heart lies in the lands of Baalmark, where their ancient culture continues to flourish beneath the glowing skies and crystal plains.

Standing at around six feet tall, the Sentujin possess broad, muscular frames, their bodies sculpted by generations of physical endurance and labour. Two large, sweeping horns curve gracefully from either side of their heads, a defining trait that varies subtly from individual to individual. In some, the horns grow smooth and symmetrical, while in others they twist or branch like the roots of ancient trees, often polished or decorated with metal bands, paint, or cloth that denote heritage and family line.

Their skin is perhaps their most curious and celebrated feature. Under normal conditions, it appears grey and fleshy, similar in texture to that of humans, though tougher and more resistant to cuts and temperature extremes. Yet this skin can undergo remarkable transformations depending on circumstance.

When the Sentujin are under extreme threat or in mortal danger, their skin becomes translucent, revealing faint outlines of their organs and the faint glow of the essence coursing through their bodies. This transformation is a defensive reflex, one that startles predators and, according to Baalmark scholars, may have evolved as a way to communicate distress to others of their kind.

In times of fertility (for females) or emotional excitement (for males), their skin shifts to a breath-taking bioluminescent blue-white hue, emitting a soft radiance that can last for several minutes or even hours. During festivals, when collective emotions run high, entire Sentujin gatherings can illuminate the night, a sight described by travellers as “a living constellation walking Anarkand.”

Their eyes are pale and reflective, often silver or pale blue, and appear to shimmer faintly under moonlight. Combined with their calm expressions and slow, measured movements, they carry an air of quiet majesty.

The Sentujin are a collective people, valuing community and cooperation above all else. Their settlements, known as Heihachi, are sprawling towns or market-cities where no individual is left to fend for themselves. Property is often shared, and trade between households is built on trust rather than currency, though they engage in commerce with other nations through barter and negotiated exchange.

Each Heihachi is governed not by rulers, but by Councils of Elders, who serve as both philosophers and mediators. Laws are few but deeply rooted in mutual respect and preservation of harmony. Violence between Sentujin is extremely rare; disputes are resolved through ritual debates, in which eloquence, reason, and empathy carry far greater weight than dominance or force.

Their craftsmanship is admired across Anarkand — particularly their glasswork and sentinel-laced ceramics, which hum softly with residual energy. Many Baalmarkian temples and Andromanian observatories proudly display Sentujin-made artefacts, their translucent blue glow serving both aesthetic and spiritual purpose.

The Sentujin themselves do not worship deities in the conventional sense. Instead, they follow the Path of Apachi, a philosophy that teaches all living beings are harmonics of the same universal energy. To them, life is an echo, and death is merely a return to the first vibration. Their festivals celebrate the Apachi, marked by music, rhythmic drumming, and luminescent dances that mirror the shifts of their skin.

They believe that their bioluminescence is not merely biological but spiritual. To them it is more of a reflection of the inner self resonating with the flow of existence. The brighter one’s glow, the stronger their harmony with the universe.

While Baalmark remains their cultural homeland, Sentujin communities can be found across Anarkand. They can be found in Andromania, Murdu, North and South Mara, Marrakis and more. Wherever they go, they integrate peacefully, often taking on roles as teachers, artisans, healers, or mediators between rival groups.

Despite their pacifism, they command great respect. Even the warlike Marakai have a cautious admiration for them, referring to the Sentujin as “the soft stone, whose whisper calms the storms.” The Sentujin represent the quieter side of Anarkand. A reminder that strength need not come from aggression. Their dual nature, powerful yet gentle, luminous yet opaque, symbolises the balance of emotion and restraint that many other races strive to achieve.
