About
The Merameja Kinsbearers are the female counterpart to the feared and exalted Merameja. Where the Merameja embody the power of dominion, conquest, and rulership, the Kinsbearers embody continuation, bloodline, and legacy. Their title dates back to the First Bonding Age in the 3rd Era, when the first Merameja warlords decree that their strength must never fade with time, and thus appoint sacred counterparts whose sole duty is to perpetuate the line.
Unlike concubines or passive partners, the Kinsbearers are revered as sacred seekers. They do not wait for suitors, nor are they bound to arranged unions. Instead, tradition demands that each Kinsbearer spend years — sometimes decades — wandering Anarkand in search of the one deemed worthy to bear her children. This quest is never taken lightly; failure to find a mate is seen as a failure to the bloodline itself.
The role of a Kinsbearer is both intimate and political. While the Merameja wield their power through force, ritual, and visible dominance, the Kinsbearers secure their influence through careful choices of lineage. Their unions are never simply about passion but about strategy, strength, and the weaving of fate.
Selection of the Mate: Once chosen, a mate is bound by oath and ritual. The Kinsbearer herself must prove her choice before her peers, as each union is ratified by the Kinsbearer Circle — a council of elders who ensure that her selection strengthens the bloodline rather than weakens it.
Children of the Kinsbearer: Children born from a Kinsbearer are considered touched by destiny. Sons often rise to become powerful and respected Merameja themselves, while daughters are trained from birth in the rites of the Kinsbearer, ensuring the cycle continues unbroken.
Sacred Bearing: To carry the bloodline is not merely biological but deeply spiritual. Kinsbearers undergo months of ritual preparation before bearing a child, invoking ancestral blessings to imbue the unborn with strength and clarity of purpose.
The Kinsbearers are revered, though often regarded with a mixture of awe and fear. To the Marakai, Baalmark, and other nations, they appear as almost priestly figures — half warriors, half mystics, utterly devoted to the continuance of a race that refuses to fade.
While their role centres on bearing children, they are not passive. Kinsbearers train in diplomacy, strategy, and often combat. Their wandering journeys across Anarkand make them some of the most well-travelled and culturally knowledgeable figures of their race.
