The Discovery ship Emerson was the brainchild of Captain Michael Emerson, a former high ranking official at Zenerdyne Inc. The company built the D.S. Emerson after the discovery of several asteroids that were rich in resources beneficial to their company. The resources in question were Gold, Caesium, and Iridium, amongst a few others.


Captain Emerson opted to man the ship himself, taking along with him a crew of 10 that featured individuals who specialised in astrodynamics, propulsion systems, Aneutronic Fusion and weaponry. The ship was built primarily to carry as much cargo as possible. To the rear end of the ship, two massive boring drills were installed. Each machine is 326 feet (99 m) long and weighed 6,700 short tons (6,100 t).


The mission was never meant to last beyond the initial two years that were stated, however, it appeared that Captain Emerson and his crew had other ideas, as they have yet to return...
