Update: 30 / 01 / 2023 -

The Anarkand trading card game is now in full development. I want to provide a status update on each of the aspects of where the game is at.

  1. 180 Cards will make up the initial offering for the game. These 180 cards will be the full contents of Series One.

  2. For the first series of cards, I have decided to standardise the deck. By this I mean, any player with a Tritan card ( for example ) will see that the faction, attack, defence, fortification, and counter will always be the same. In addition they will have the same bonus effects.

  3. The direction of attack, defence, fortification, and counter-defence will all be the same too. That way players can become familiar with the cards and their stats and abilities fairly quickly.

  4. This comes from initial playtests, it seems to be a better solution to the initial approach which featured non-standardised cards. I ran into two problems with this. Approach play changed when faced with an attacking, defensive, or counter-attacking playstyle. Secondly, the costs involved in such a card set would reach extreme levels of financing, and I am in no position to support this, hence the standardisation and the kickstarter launch.

  5. I am currently sourcing artists for the cards, and whilst I cannot financially reciprocate the artist for their work, I can, and will, credit the artist in two ways. Number 1: The artists name will feature on the card itself, thus furthering promotion of them and their work. Number 2: Any artist that is chosen for their artwork on the Anarkand cards will also be credited in the credits and acknowledgements page found here.

  6. In addition to the 180 cards of Series One, I will also be pushing a few booster cards that are available as rewards for supporters of the proposed kickstarter, the works of Stephen Purdon, the creator, and other supporter methods such as Anarkand Prime.

  7. A long-term project for the Anarkand trading card game, is to convert it from the physical, into a digital version. This is some time away as we need to raise the funds to make this possible.

If you are an artists looking to contribute or submit content for the cards, then please get in touch using the contact form found here.
